So far, in our video series about improving data quality in ServiceNow, we’ve looked at How to Create Blueprints in DCM and How to Run Audits. These steps have given us insights into our data quality issues. In this third video of our series, we focus on resolving these issues.
Drag and Drop Data Quality Fixes
Data Content Planner in DCM offers a straightforward solution to fix data quality issues identified by DCM Audit. It overlays actual data records, such as Business Applications, onto a Blueprint background. Then you can drag and drop records to fill the visible gaps. You can also use it to update attributes.
The Blueprint in the background will define how the data relates to each. Regardless of whether references or CI relationships are needed. Working with the Blueprint is intuitive and ensures that any data modifications align with your data model.
All changes made in the Content Planner are in a staging area until committed. The Content Planner respects user access rights, ensuring changes are made securely. It even allows for a collaborative approach where one person can propose changes and another with the necessary permissions can approve and commit them.
Engage the Data Providers
Consider the case of a Business Application owner, who might not be a regular ServiceNow user or deeply familiar with data models. The Content Planner’s visual approach simplifies their task, making identifying and fixing data gaps easy. This user-friendly interface is key to involving various stakeholders in data quality management.
When fixing is dragging and dropping, and the Blueprint ensures alignment with the data model, engaging these stakeholders and expecting meaningful results from them is possible.
Why Data Quality Audits Matter
By defining data requirements into DCM Blueprints and regularly running audits, maintaining and improving high data quality in your ServiceNow becomes a manageable, streamlined process. It will remove the guesswork and provide the facts that you need to focus your efforts and resources.
This approach ensures compliance with your data standards and drives efficiency and clarity across your business operations. That, in turn, can significantly improve the return on your ServiceNow investment.
